Home is Special
It’s the place you retreat to at the end of a busy day, Home is a means of expressing who you are and what you love; it showcases your style and taste. It might be your special first home, the home for your children to grow up in or your grandchildren to visit. Your home reflects your journey in life, curated over years of living.
For me, making a house into a home takes art.
And I know a thing or two about this having worked as a set decorator and stylist in the film industry and as a designer for many years. My work has always been about making sure the interior truly reflects the client. Hand crafted artwork can breathe life into a room; tell your unique story and bring joy.
The most beautiful homes are those that are finished with original artwork. We live in a disposable age - so an investment to cherish and then pass on to the people we love is an investment worth making.
WHAT MAKES ME TICK
Mummy
Life is ridiculously busy for us all these days. As a mummy of young twins, it’s a rolling cycle of homework and finding lost socks (honestly, where do they go?) I really want to be there for my children as they grow up. And like so many of us today, life is about juggling this privilege with work.
Textiles
My diverse creative career has always involved textile design. Collecting and creating glorious patterns in fabulous colours really is my driving force. Traditionally trained to paint by hand, my designs today combine these original artisan techniques with modern printing technology.
exmoor
Single and a little jaded, I moved from London to Exmoor 20 years ago and it was then that I knew my life would change. Exmoor took my breath away with its seasonal shift of colour and its verdant, voluptuous hills rolling down to the sea ... Life was kinder, calmer, more considered.
nature
The beaches, moors and gardens of the South West are my inspiration. The landscape here is breathtaking but it's the smaller details in Nature I am drawn to: the unfurling green ferns in Spring, the hedgerow mushrooms in Autumn and the bluebell blanketed woods in early Summer. My work captures the changing seasons and preserves these fleeting moments.
what's important to me
Crafted
Whether you choose a framed silk scarf, a Giclee print or a greetings card, it is important to me that I use the best fabrics, the best papers and the best artisan printers so that the details of my paintings are preserved. Every one of my products is created for you, by hand, with love and attention.
Process
My organic design process always starts with a detailed drawing. The next stage sees a visual story develop where imaginary patterns and colours start to emerge. I am a bit of a magpie and my collection of wallpapers, postcards, fabrics and ceramics are a great source of inspiration to shape the way I work.
Materials
I use an exciting range of media - inks, acrylics, gold leaf and hand crafted papers to create different design elements. Using collage allows me to freely experiment with these elements, bringing a depth to my artwork. Happy mistakes are part of this process and result in playful, fresh patterns.
british
Being a British artist and designer, I am passionate about supporting British suppliers and craftsmen. It is important to me that every element of my work reflects this. This includes my British printers and frame makers I use and with a huge manufacturing history in Britain, it's great to support small family run fabric mills too.
